An Intimate Spring Wedding with Succulent & Wildflowers! (Mary & Austin)

Mary is Becka’s younger sister.

Becka is a mural artist and a fellow swing dancer.

Becka painted the backdrop for her sister’s wedding.

Becka called me less than two months before Mary’s wedding, asking me to get on the last-minute DIY wedding boat with them.

She said, Jing! Your photos are so good. I told her (Mary) that she has to hire you!

I asked for a timeline. I asked if they have a coordinator.

“No. What’s that?”

I thought, this absolutely sounds like a disaster I should say no to.

Then I said YES.

I said I’ll be there for you.

And I said, ask Mary to schedule a meeting with me. I’ll help them with the timeline.

BTW Becka happens to be a good friend of mine for years.

Mary looks and sounds just like Becka. Same kind of authenticity. I liked her and Austin right away over Zoom.

Mary & Austin’s wedding was at an Airbnb in the small town Brenham, TX. The most famous thing from the town is Bluebell Ice Cream.

I didn’t see ice cream, but I saw a large open field of spring wildflowers. Blue, coral, yellow, pink… the wedding was an intimate and sweet party, with the perfect spring weather.

I felt more inspired than I even expected. Creative ideas flooded into my head. I’m so grateful for the intimate access and complete trust Mary, Austin, and their families gave me. I’m in love with their photos.

I get so excited when I have time and all the right elements to create something like this at a wedding!

Check out these DIY bouquets! Don’t ever underestimate how much an artistic and supportive family can do.

Without a traditional invitation suite, I created a unique flat lay design, including all the items with sentimental value to Mary, and her dad’s remembrance flower.
